A pre-post design including 22 females was used to evaluate the effectiveness of neurofeedback in the treatment of adolescent anorexia nervosa. Resting EEG measures and a psychological test-battery assessing eating behavior traits, clinical symptoms, emotionality, and mood were obtained. While both the experimental (n = 10) and control group (n = 12) received their usual maintenance treatment, the experimental group received 10 sessions of individual alpha frequency training over a period of 5 weeks as additional treatment.
The present study was carried out to examine the efficacy of alpha/theta neurofeedback (NF) with a new visual paradigm in a cohort of alcohol use disordered (AUD) patients (n = 25) treated in an Austrian therapeutic community center.
Background: There is substantial evidence confirming Neuro-feedback as an effective training method with applications in clinical, educational and optimal performance domains. However, a psychodynamically informed NF-approach needs further exploration. Method: A 19-year-old adolescent male, whose first college year was disrupted after a severe bout of polydrug misuse which lasted 18 months, was treated with 11 sessions of psychotherapy that included follow-ups with Neuro-feedback combined with Short-Tem Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
